Scientists Develop Smartphone Device That Can Diagnose Ear Infections

A low-cost tympanometer system developed by scientists at the University of Washington can diagnose ear infections by using a smartphone app and a piece of paper, potentially making tympanometers more accessible to health care providers around the world. Ear infections are most commonly diagnosed in children and usually caused by middle ear inflammation.

Philadelphia Suburbs May Receive New Area Code in Early September

An ‘835’ area code will be assigned to new phone numbers in the Philadelphia suburbs beginning as early as Sept. 2, 2022, according to the Public Utility Commission, because options for the ‘610’ and ‘484’ area codes are dwindling. The ‘835’ calling area will serve portions of Berks, Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lehigh, Carbon, Lebanon, Monroe, Northampton and Schuylkill counties.

Online Dating App Hopes to Get More Singles Out Meeting In-person

Not Another Dating App is a new platform focused primarily on getting users together for in-person dates. It was created by Philadelphia tech entrepreneur Earl Knight. He hopes to launch NADA in the Apple app store on Friday, Aug. 5, but a limited beta version has been available in Philly and Los Angeles since May. Knight met his fiancee on a dating app, so he also understands the user experience.

The King of Prussia Mall has a new platform that allows shoppers to see what products are in stock at certain stores before visiting the mall. “Simon Search” can be accessed through the Simon app and includes stores like Aeropostale, Anthropologie, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Gap, J.Crew and PacSun.
